Colorado College, Tutt Library has been a 有选择性的 U.S. 政府 文档 存托 since 1880. Over the years the library has 维护 one of the best 历史 集合 of U.S. 政府 文档 in the 周围 region, with some 出版物 dating from 1774.

The 物理 集合 numbers about 150,000 items (paper, 缩微平片, maps, and cd - rom / dvd). The library catalog 包含 links to full text 电子 文档. 政府 Document Web pages provide many links to online indexes, branches of 政府 包括 state, federal, and 国际 links under specific topics. 政府

The Federal 存托 Library Program (FDLP), which is 管理 by the US 政府 印刷 Office (GPO), was 建立了 by 国会 to ensure that the 美国 people have access to 政府 信息. The 存托 Library Program is 授权 by Title 44 United States Code, Chapter 19. Location and Call Numbers

The 集合 is housed in Tutt Library, Garden Level and 4^th floor, and the Creekside facility. USGS 地形 maps are shelved in 字母顺序排列 or map series number order in the map room in Tutt 4^th Floor. 超大号的 maps stored in the map case in Creekside. 缩微平片 and CD/DVDs are also located in Creekside.

Access Policy

Guides to the 政府 文档 集合 are 可用 through the 政府 信息 Web Page and via the 研究 Guides tab on the 图书馆的 homepage. Most of the 物理 材料 are included in the 图书馆的 catalog.

Access to the 政府 文档 集合 is 可用 to members of the general public along with the CC 社区. Most of the items in the 集合 are 可用 to check out 根据 to library 循环 policy. Some 文件, 包括 maps and 缩微平片, do not check out. They may be used in the library.

电子

The 目录, 政府 信息 web pages and (自由)指南 may be 搜索 from any 电脑 with 互联网 access. Two 站 near the 研究 Desk are 指定的 for members of the general public. Users are limited to 1 hour at a 电脑 station. The 图书管理员 on duty at the 研究 Desk will login people 请求 access.

参考 Service

参考 services offered to the general public using the 存托 are 类似的 to the 参考 services given to the 图书馆的 primary patrons. Indexes, 数据库, and other tools to locate 政府 信息 in the library and on the Internet are 可用 to all 存托 patrons.

参考 service is 提供 by the 参考 图书管理员 on duty at the 研究 Desk.

参考 service for 文档 可用 on the 目录, CD-ROMs, or on the 政府 文档 web pages consists of guidance in locating specific titles and general 介绍 指令 on use of the resource. Some 电脑 literacy is required of the user.

电话 参考 calls will be 解决 after patrons in the library are served. Specific brief 信息 要求 by 电话 will be located and left at the 循环 Desk for patrons to check out or use in the library. If the 电话 question requires more 广泛的 研究中, the patron will be asked to come to the library when the 政府 文档 staff is on duty for help in 进行 the research. Email and 文本聊天/ 问题 are handled in the same way.

馆际的 Loan Policy

文档 in Colorado College, Tutt Library, except those 指定的 in the catalog or by the 政府 文档 staff for 'in library use only', are 可用 to all 库 on 馆际的 Loan.

Colorado College 学生, staff, and faculty may request 政府 出版物 that Tutt Library does not own via 馆际的 Loan or 探勘者 through Tutt Library. Public patrons must make their requests through their own public library.

The focus of this 集合 is 一致的 with the emphasis of the 历史 holdings 包括: 政治 Science, Public Policy, U.S. History, 经济学 and 业务, 人类学、 教育, 社会学, General Science, Geology, and 环境 Science.

• 存托 items numbers are 选择 in 部门 series based upon the above areas of interest.
• • Annual reports and most of the 统计 series from all of the 部门 are 选择 to give an 概述 of 部门 活动.
  • 国会 series 出版物 have been 选择 in the past and much of the current 出版物 are 可用 through online 资源.
• The 文档 图书管理员 in 咨询 with the 部门 liaison 图书馆员 (科学, Social Science, 人文、 and 跨学科) does item 选择. Faculty members are 咨询 when 适当的.
• Titles not 一般 选择 for our library are highly 技术 报道, rules and 规定, 手册, manuals and guides (except when deemed 必要的), 海报, 短暂的 材料, and titles where 频率 or size cannot be 确定.
• The choice of format may effect 选择. 越来越多地， the online version is all that is 可用. 缩微平片, VHS and digital formats (floppy disc) are no longer 传播.

• A title missing and presumed lost, that is 确认 through 库存 or other means, is replaced if deemed 重要的. Titles claimed and not received are also acquired if possible. Care and 维护

   2. 编目 记录, now batched loads, from 1992 forward.
2. Weeding - 文档 may be weeded from the 集合 根据 to the rules in the 指令 to 存托 库. Some series have been 保留 for 历史 reasons.
   1. 取代 titles are weeded on a regular basis in 根据 with the 取代 List (可 on the FDLP Web site.)
   2. A major weeding project was 承担 in the years leading up to the library remodel.
3. Binding - 文档 接收 heavy and long term may be bound (sent to the bindery or bound 内部)

   2. Several document series are bound because they are 确认 as having 历史 value (e.g. USGS 专业 Papers and 公告, Colorado volumes of 十周年纪念 census).
   3. 文档 that are 活页本 and sent without binders are bound together with metal 紧固件 or placed in three ring 笔记本电脑.
4. 保存 - a 保存 project for some of the 历史 series (Serial Set, early titles in the 国会 Record, Labor Dept., 史密森学会, War 部门, and 财政部 部门) began in 1981.
   1. Twenty volumes per year were sent to the bindery to be rebound with 指令 to maintain the 外观 of the original volume, 包括 special labels. The 文档 图书管理员 directs this project.
   2. Folded maps from early Serial Set volumes are being 保存 by being removed from the volume, 湿润, 夷为平地, 修复, de-acidified, 封装, and shelved in a map case with links to and from the original 位置.
   3. The Serial Set has been oiled twice in the past twenty years. Oiling is no longer 推荐 for old leather volumes.

Indexes and 参考书目

The library has a strong 承诺 to 提供 printed and on-line access to 政府 文档. Many 文档 received earlier than 1976 are not 编目 in the public 目录, access is 依赖 upon indexes and 参考书目.
